Map Reading Skills...

As you know this event isn't your usual "race" there is no pre-defined route you must follow and all you get is a series of Check Points that you have to pass (in order by the way!), some have clippers that you will need to use to punch your cards, others ask questions.

It's totally up to you how you get there. i.e. if your a road runner you might want to take a slightly longer road route (if deemed safe) but it could be faster? Others who like the mud (strange) will go for the shortest route as the crow flys!

Anyway what you will need to do it is be able to plot a six figure grid reference on a map.

I'm guessing you know what a grid reference is or you wouldn't be reading this but just in case... I'd have a look at the link below which describes the process. It looks a lot more confusing than it actually is. The main thing you need to remember is...

Along the corridoor, up the stairs :)

Unless you really do plan on going cross country, you shouldn't need a compass but a sensible person would carry one. I think a "roamer" would be more useful and some compasses have these on.

Good Luck!
